MerchantsBI didn't start as a software idea. It started in the field — as consultants who spent years inside businesses struggling with the same broken data workflows, over and over again.
Where We Come From
Before MerchantsBI existed, our founders spent over a decade embedded inside businesses as data and operations consultants. We weren't theorizing about data problems from a distance — we were in the room, building spreadsheets, debugging pipelines, and rebuilding reporting systems from scratch for clients across industries.
We built custom reports, dashboards, and data models for businesses ranging from regional retailers to multi-location service providers — each with unique systems and equally unique reporting headaches.
We connected systems that were never designed to talk to each other. QuickBooks to Salesforce. ERPs to spreadsheets. Every engagement taught us exactly where data pipelines break down in the real world.
We sat alongside executives, analysts, and operations managers. We understood how different stakeholders need to see data — and why most BI tools fail to serve all of them at once.
What We Kept Seeing
No matter the industry, no matter the size of the business — the core problem was almost always identical. Data lived in silos. Reports were built manually. And today that same fragmentation breaks AI: connect a tool to each system separately and you get a different answer from each one — none you can fully trust.
Every client had data spread across five to fifteen different platforms, none of which talked to each other automatically.
